SUMMARY:Elevate Your Energy: Low-Pressure Movement for Every Body
DESCRIPTION:Many of us in the disability and chronic illness communities are conditioned to protect our bodies rather than strengthen them\, which can make traditional fitness feel intimidating or overly intense. Join certified personal trainer Tony Jacobsen for a welcoming introduction to the Energy Elevator format\, a zero judgment experience built for every body that focuses entirely on what you CAN do. We will follow a simple and fun schedule starting with a safe\, inclusive 30-minute workout encompassing cardio and mobility/stretch work with seated and standing options. Afterward\, we will jump into a short\, grounded motivational talk on overcoming the fear of movement and building physical and mental consistency\, wrapping up with an open Q&A session where you can ask Tony anything about adapting fitness\, modifications\, or navigating movement with a disability. \nTony Jacobsen is an author\, motivational speaker\, and NASM Certified Personal Trainer who has spent the last 8 years delivering virtual adaptive fitness training. Living with Osteogenesis Imperfecta (brittle bone disease) and having experienced roughly 80 fractures throughout his life\, Tony teaches entirely from deep lived experience and authority. Through his coaching and his weekly online class\, The Energy Elevator\, he helps individuals with physical limitations reduce pressure and build physical and mental consistency on their own terms. Tony is the author of “Disable Your Disability” and “Advice to Be #UNBREAKABLE!” In addition to fitness coaching\, he enjoys empowering audiences through motivational talks and unique DJ experiences that guide people toward feeling more capable\, supported\, and connected to their bodies. DESCRIPTION:A celebration built by and for our community \nJoin us on Saturday\, October 24\, for the 8th Annual Disability Pride Parade & Festival\, the only event of its kind in Southern California. This free\, family-friendly celebration blends Halloween\, Día de los Muertos\, and fall festivities with Disability Pride\, bringing our community together for a joyful day of celebration. \n​The day kicks off with the Disability Parade\, where people with disabilities and allies march through the streets of East Los Angeles in solidarity. From there\, the festival is packed with things to do: DJs and dancing\, games for all ages and abilities\, a haunted maze\, face painting\, a petting zoo\, and an adaptive climbing wall. Trick-or-treat at every table while you explore booths from 20+ local resources and organizations. Costumes are highly encouraged!

DESCRIPTION:The Abilities International Accessibility Conference brings together professionals working across Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) and Assistive Technology for two days of accredited education\, hands-on learning and industry connection. Designed for OTs\, PTs\, ATPs\, clinicians\, equipment providers and other professionals\, the conference covers clinical practice\, assessment and provision\, hands-on skills\, adaptive technology and adapted living. \nFollowing its successful 2026 launch\, the conference is gearing up for an even bigger 2027\, with education across three tracks: Assessment & Provision\, Clinical Skills Workshop and Adapted Living. Attendees can choose from foundational\, intermediate and advanced sessions covering everything from seating and mobility to adaptive driving\, smart home technology\, adaptive sport and more. \nCo-located with the established Abilities Expo Los Angeles and New York Metro\, this is the first large-scale U.S. event uniting the full Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) ecosystem for hands-on education and collaboration. \nThe program will consist of a two-day event with classroom learning on Thursday and practical learning (at the expo) on Friday.
