Date and Time: Every 3rd Thursday of the month, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm PST. Open Group: You can join us at any time; there are no restrictions. Cost: FREE In this supportive space, you’ll find understanding, empathy, and a community of individuals who share similar experiences. We believe that coming together can make your caregiving journey more manageable and fulfilling. RSVP by filling out the contact form and choosing “support group” from the drop-down menu. This special event is designed to connect families and individuals with a wide range of inclusive services and supports. We’re excited to share that this is FFRC’s first time partnering with NLACRC on a resource fair — making this a truly unique event for this year! In addition to a diverse selection of exhibitors, the Empower Expo will feature workshops, a dance for adults with disabilities, and a showcase of micro-enterprises. Please note, this year there will be NO CHARGE for exhibitor tables and there will be no sponsorships available. POTENTIAL EXHIBITORS: Exhibitor applications are now being accepted; please apply HERE. To create a meaningful and well-rounded experience for attendees, we are aiming to select a diverse group of organizations that closely aligns with our collective mission. Please note that we may limit participation from agencies offering duplicative services in order to ensure a broad and balanced representation of resources. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. All applicants will be notified of their status no later than September 12, 2025. Under the SDP program, individuals and their families can coordinate and purchase services outside of the usual Regional Center system. SDP provides individuals served and their families with more freedom, control, and responsibility in choosing services and supports to help them meet objectives in their Individual Program Plan. SDP participants have the power to manage their budget, choose and negotiate rates with community providers, and decide how to use public funds, giving them greater independence and responsibility. Participants are responsible for staying within their annual budget. The Self-Determination Program is based on beliefs that people — Interpretation will be provided in Spanish, Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: Location: Times Center, New York, NY Epileptic Seizures Explained: Join Our Free Expert Webinar Overview of Rare Refractory Epilepsy Syndromes & the REST-LGS Screening Tool Presented by Aisha Fowler, PharmD Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), Dravet syndrome (DS), tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) are rare and severe epileptic encephalopathies with onset in infancy or early childhood. EPIDIOLEX®, a pharmaceutical formulation of highly purified cannabidiol (CBD) is FDA-approved for the treatment of seizures associated with LGS, DS, and TSC in patients ≥1 year of age. Reality has set in, and many parents are stressed about statewide district budget deficits, unknown federal cuts, staff shortages, and fears throughout many communities about how our kids’ education will be affected.
